Hey there, welcome to Binary Blisters! My name is Justin Atteberry, but you can call me sgtdiddlywink – that’s my online moniker, and you’ll probably see it around here a lot. I even have another website on GitHub that goes by that name, but don’t expect too much from it. Let’s just say my coding skills were a work in progress.

As a 30-something millennial, I’ve spent my fair share of time glued to video games and 90’s cartoons. I grew up as an army brat in Southern New Mexico, went to college for Civil Engineering, and somehow ended up in the construction industry. But on the side, I’ve always had a love for physical challenges and have completed some crazy races and challenges over the years.

Speaking of challenges, my love for video games eventually led me into the world of IT and cybersecurity. I remember the night I finally built my own PC – it was supposed to be a quick project, but I ended up staying up until 4am to get it working. Since then, I’ve been soaking up everything I can about hardware, networking, and software through YouTube and online courses.

I started with building a home server for media, which taught me a lot about home networking. From there, I dove into Angela Yu’s 100 days of python course on Udemy, and it opened up a whole new world of possibilities in IT for me. I’ve explored cybersecurity, ethical hacking, and other programming languages, and I’m still figuring out where I want to go next.

So, that’s a bit about me for now. I’m excited to share my journey into the world of IT and cybersecurity with you, as well as my other interests like horror movies, books, and video games. Thanks for being here, and I hope you stick around for the ride!

FAQs

Q. What’s with the goofy art all over the website?

A. I’m never quite sure what type of image to pair with my content and I want to avoid any copyright issues by using someone else’s image. Therefore, I’ve started using AI-generated art, with almost all of them created using DALLĀ·E.

Q. What’s with sgtdiddlywink?

A. I still remember the day back in 4th grade when my best friend told me about this awesome new game where you shoot aliens, fight horror aliens, and much more. That’s when I discovered Halo, and my friend and I played it religiously on the OG Xbox. Fast forward a bit, and I finally got to create my own Xbox Live account, and I came up with ‘sgtdiddlywink’ as my name. Since then, it has somehow stuck with me for anything tech or online related. I don’t know why, but it feels too hard to give up at this point.

Q. So have you ever worked in IT?

A. No, I have never technically filled an IT role at any company. However, that hasn’t stopped me from working with IT entities within my company and providing some IT help when troubleshooting was fairly easy (and I had permissions to do so). I have always felt that I have a natural talent for computers and other technologies, so I have never been afraid to approach problems and issues. Google and Stack Overflow have also been lifesavers for me. ChatGPT is my new best friend in this realm because now, not only can I fix the problem, but I can also gain a better understanding of what went wrong in the first place.
