I am really bad at soldering

So I went down another rabbit hole recently. It’s always YouTube’s fault. All I wanted to do was watch a video on tech or some coding, and all of a sudden, I’m committed to a much bigger project. This one is courtesy of NetworkChuck, which isn’t the first time either.

Long story short, I now have a Raspberry Pi Zero and a few Picos, which were surprisingly difficult to find. About a year ago, I was on the hunt for Raspberry Pi 4s and managed to find two at a local computer shop. They ended up costing me a bit more than $40 because they came bundled with other things. It was the last two they had because they were selling like hotcakes (and still are). At the time, though, the Zeros and Picos were a dime a dozen and everywhere. Fast forward to last week, and I couldn’t find them anywhere. I even hit up a couple of computer shops nearby and got laughed out of each one of them.

Well, I bit the bullet and paid a premium (about $50 for the zero and $10 for each pico) but got them on hand now. It’s not the most financially responsible thing I’ve done, but I think my wallet will live with it.

So let’s get back to the project. I want to make a PWNAGOTCHI. I linked what it is there if you don’t know, but I’m super excited about it. As of now, though, I haven’t finished it yet as I was traveling most of last week and still need a few more items. I’m waiting on the screen to go with it and want to try my hand at printing a case for it.

As of now, I just finished soldering the 20-pin header to it, which was particularly fun. It’s the first time I’ve done it and have mad respect for those in the microelectronics field. I’m even trying to think of other projects I can do with soldering.

Well, besides that, I got most of the items together and will fill you all in on the project as it goes, so keep an eye out in the meantime. You might be wondering about the Picos, and all I’ll say there is I have a few ideas and will get to them once I’m done with the PWNAGOTCHI.

Thanks for reading as always, and catch you all later.
